Děda Staňa Tománek comes from my native region, which is unique in terms of its mentality, culture, character, and problems. Grandpa from Slovácko is the central character of the entire film, a typical representative through whom I try to describe the local landscape and contemporary social life connected with climate issues. I am fascinated by observing the life of an 85-year-old grandfather in contrast to the present day. Grandpa has an above-average active life, various crises do not surprise him, he is always part of cultural and sporting events, and he is able to engage in intellectual dialogue with young people. My grandfather is proud of his region and the local nature, which unfortunately is currently struggling with drought and natural disasters. These problems have a negative impact on the lives of local residents, which my grandfather realizes when he tries to hide in the basement at night to escape the tropical temperatures. Through the film, I bring Grandpa's life and his view of the world to life for the viewer. At the same time, the film is an ideal capture of me confronting Grandpa with my own questions, which are based on the ideas of the current young generation.
