Scalka

The main hall of our Scala cinema with almost a century of history was closed in June 2023 due to structural problems. No adequate replacement for the closed cinema hall has been found in the city, but the demand for screenings in the traditional cinema remains huge.

We have therefore decided to build an alternative cinema Scalka with a capacity of 50 spectators in the large lower foyer of the cinema.

Although Scalka will not be a traditional auditorium, it will offer quality DCI standard projection with selected dramaturgy as Scala has offered in the past including festivals, shows, programs for seniors, parents with children, juniors, schools and the general public.

You can now find the schedule for the first two weeks on our website. The classic program is complemented by a new Student Cinema series aptly titled CINEMA LIVES! We have also decided to join the TADY VARY project again, thanks to which we can bring you the festival atmosphere of up to 10 films in a preview. But that's not all.

We hope that Scalka will contribute to the survival of an exceptional cinema, brand and the whole community that has developed around Scalka over the years. We believe that the alternative operation of Scalka will help to bridge the difficult times and eventually a full-fledged first-run cinema will open in Brno again.

We will start screening in Scalka on 19 September with the film Kinds of Kindness. Be there with us!
